The Awrad of the Initiate (Mubtadi‘)

Opening

Begin with testimony, forgiveness, and Qur’anic recitation.

  • Shahada three times — ash-hadu an la ilaha illallah wa ash-hadu anna Muhammadan `abduhu wa rasuluh.
  • Astaghfirullah 70 times.
  • Al-Fatiha 1 time, intending to share in the blessings revealed with it in Makkah.
  • Ayat Aman ar-Rasul (2:285–286).

Suwar

Short chapters of the Qur’an.

  • Surat al-Inshirah (94) — 7 times.
  • Surat al-Ikhlas (112) — 11 times.
  • Surat al-Falaq (113) — 1 time.
  • Surat an-Nas (114) — 1 time.

Dhikr and Salawat

Remembrance and salutations.

  • La ilaha illallah — 10 times, completing the last with Muhammadun Rasulullah.
  • Salawat ash-sharifa — 10 times: Allahumma salli `ala Muhammadin wa `ala ali Muhammadin wa sallim.
  • Ihda: present the reward to the Prophet ﷺ and the Naqshbandi Shaykhs; wrap with Al‑Fatiha, intending to share in the graces revealed in Madinah.

Extended Devotions

For daily completion and weekly emphasis.

  • Dhikr of the Glorious Name — “Allah, Allah” 1500 times.
  • Salawat — 100 times; 300 times on Mondays, Thursdays, and Fridays.
  • One‑thirtieth (juz’) of the Qur’an, or instead Surat al‑Ikhlas 100 times.
  • One chapter of Dalā’il al‑Khayrāt, or instead salawat 100 times.
